Role Summary
The Human Resource Manager will provide strategic HR leadership across ICGC UK/Europe, developing and implementing HR strategies that support organizational growth, ensure legal compliance, and foster a culture aligned with Christian values. This senior role requires expertise in HR management combined with an understanding of faith-based organizational dynamics.
Key Responsibilities
Strategic HR Leadership
- Develop and implement a comprehensive HR strategy aligned with ICGC UK/Europe’s mission and strategic objectives
- Provide strategic HR advice and guidance to senior leadership and the Board of Trustees
- Lead organizational development initiatives, including restructuring, change management, and workforce planning
- Design and implement talent management and succession planning strategies
- Develop HR metrics and analytics to inform strategic decision-making
- Champion diversity, equality, and inclusion within a Christian framework
Employee Relations and Compliance
- Ensure full compliance with UK employment law and HR best practices
- Manage complex employee relations cases, including disciplinaries, grievances, and tribunals
- Develop and maintain comprehensive HR policies and procedures
- Oversee safeguarding policies and safer recruitment practices
- Lead on employment law updates and ensure organizational compliance
- Manage relationships with employment law advisors and ACAS
Recruitment and Talent Management
- Develop and oversee recruitment strategies for ministry and operational roles
- Manage visa sponsorship processes and maintain Sponsor License compliance
- Implement talent acquisition strategies to attract high-caliber candidates
- Design onboarding programs that integrate new staff into organizational and ministry culture
- Oversee performance management systems and annual review processes
- Develop retention strategies and career development frameworks
Learning and Organizational Development
- Design and implement comprehensive learning and development strategies
- Identify organizational training needs and coordinate development programs
- Oversee leadership development and management training initiatives
- Integrate ministry training with professional development
- Evaluate training effectiveness and ROI
- Support organizational change and cultural transformation
Compensation and Benefits
- Develop and manage competitive compensation and benefits strategies
- Conduct salary benchmarking and market analysis
- Oversee payroll liaison and pension scheme administration
- Design total reward strategies aligned with budget constraints
- Manage HR budget and resource allocation
HR Operations and Systems
- Oversee HR information systems and employee data management
- Ensure GDPR compliance in all HR processes
- Lead on HR process improvement and efficiency initiatives
- Prepare HR reports and analytics for leadership
- Manage the HR team and develop team capabilities
Ministry-Specific HR
- Balance pastoral care with professional HR management
- Advice on HR matters for ordained ministers and church workers
- Support integration of calling and vocation with employment practices
- Ensure HR practices reflect kingdom values and Christian principles
Essential Requirements
Qualifications and Experience
- Essential: Bachelor’s degree in Human Resources, Business Administration, Law or related field
- Essential: Minimum 5 years’ experience in HR management
- Essential: Demonstrated expertise in UK employment law and HR best practices
- Essential: Experience leading HR strategy development and implementation
- Essential: Knowledge of UK immigration law and visa sponsorship requirements
- Desirable: CIPD or equivalent HR qualification, OR willingness to work towards CIPD qualification with employer support
- Desirable: HR training through Continuing Professional Development (CPD) Programs.
- Desirable: Experience in the charity, faith-based, or not-for-profit sector
- Desirable: Completion of ICGC ABC Bible Class (Ministry Level) or equivalent theological training

Skill Level and Salary Information

- Skill Level: RQF Level 6 (Bachelor’s degree level)
- Annual Salary: £52,900 per annum (based on 37.5 hours per week)
- Hourly Rate: £27.13 per hour
- Going Rate: £52,900 (standard rate for SOC 1136)
Genuine Occupational Requirement (GOR)
Under Schedule 9, Part 1 of the Equality Act 2010, being a practicing Christian is a genuine occupational requirement for this role. The postholder will be expected to:

- Participate in corporate prayer and devotional activities
- Lead with Christian values and principles
- Serve as a role model of Christian conduct and character
Working Conditions
- Hours: 37.5 hours per week
- Location: ICGC London offices with occasional travel to other UK/Europe locations
- Occasional Requirements: Evening and weekend work for church events; UK and international travel as needed
